I was just looking through my photos from Peniche and the only good photos I have are from the really long beach east of town. Of course there is more to Peniche than the beach, but not that much actually. It’s a really nice town for relaxing and surfing, but there aren’t too many things to do. You have the small historic center inside the city wall, the street by the harbour filled with seafood restaurants (very good ones though!), the fortress where political prisoners were kept during the dictatorship and the pier. At least it isn’t packed with tourists at this time of the year! Here you can see the pictures from the beach and a couple from town at the end:
Peniche was nice, but I liked Óbidos more. That might be because our day in Óbidos was so sunny and warm, unlike our day in Peniche (look at the grey sky on the two last pictures). My next destination will probably be Aveiro, also known as the Venice of Portugal, so stay put!
